Sabbath at Familia Feliz
Sabbath was a beautiful day with the sun hotly shining and no thunderstorms and torrential rain as we had the day before. This was pertinent as we rode to church on our motorcycle. I knew there was a reason I cut my hair short for this adventure… less of an afro to have to manage.
Special music was lovely with our niece Sierra and Carlo singing a duet. Afterward, the sermon was preached by another student missionary. It was a great sermon, and although I could only recognize a few words here and there, I was able to translate some for Rick.
After church, we all went to one of the boys’ houses for lunch. A few of the girls came over to cook lunch. It was a great meal that all of us pitched in to make. The little boys ran around playing and wrestling around with each other. Some of the boys took out some books and were looking at them.
Finally, lunch was ready, and we all sat down to eat after the prayer song was sung, which thanked God for the food. It came as no surprise that many of the boys were ready for seconds as they wolfed down their food. Rick and some of the other boys picked some grapefruit from the trees nearby, and we had delicious fresh grapefruit drinks. That was very refreshing!
What a lovely day it was at the Familia Feliz!
