Here it is—the adventure we’ve been planning for months. We’ve finally arrived at the Pantanal in Brazil, a place where wild jaguars and other exotic animals roam freely. Sure, the mosquitoes were relentless, and the heat was stifling, but the payoff? The Jaguars! Let’s backtrack a little and share the journey that led us here….
We were excited to visit the “famous” Rio de Janeiro. Thoughts of the wild parties, the larger-than-life “Bonecos” (giant paper-mâché puppets), and all the other festivities of Carnaval filled our minds. Fortunately, Rio isn’t like that all the time. We found the city to be very pleasant, especially in the winter. The days were usually in the mid-70s, the beaches were not overly crowded, and the people were very nice.
Today we prepared for a journey to the awe-inspiring Iguazu Falls, which required us to travel through three countries. Our adventure began in Paraguay, where we were staying, then took us through a Brazilian National Park, and finally to Argentina at a National Park.
